Power Supply
There are four different ways you could power a forklift: gas, electric, propane and diesel. The battery is situated within the cab underneath the seat. The propane tank is situated on the back of the truck. The fuel tank on gas and diesel forklifts is underneath the rear of the truck.
Cab
Positioned within the middle of the truck is the forklift cab. This is where the operator sits and accesses all the informational gauges and controls. The gas pedal, steering wheel, brake, lifting controls and tilting controls are all situated inside the cab.
Frame
Carrying all the largest forklift parts is the truck frame. This includes the counterweights located at the back which prevents the truck from tipping over when loaded. The frame includes the overhead guard that protects the operator. The undercarriage holds the axles, wheels and driveshaft.
