Motorized Pallet Truck
A Motorized Pallet Truck often goes by other names like: Walkie or Walkie-Rider. These pieces of equipment are basically a motorized version of a pallet jack. They come in both "Walkie" models and "Rider" versions.
Just as the name implies, the walkie model is designed for the operator to walk alongside with the unit while they transport cargo. The Rider model on the other hand, uses a small platform wherein the operator stands on. The rider models are ideal for frequent transporting of loads over extended distances in manufacturing operations and warehouses. They are really fast and maneuverable.
It is not recommended to pick up and move tall or unstable loads as there are no safety cages on these models. A rider might be the perfect answer if you are searching for an inexpensive way of transporting cargo from point A to point B. If though, you are required to transport heavy loads short distances, and prefer to use a more employee-friendly unit instead of a pallet jack, the walkie model might be the right choice.
Order Selector
The order picker or order selector is a piece machinery made specifically for manual handling of less-than-pallet-load quantities in racking. There are fixed forks attached to a platform in the Man-up design. This platform elevates both the operator and the load in order to facilitate manual loading and unloading from racking areas.
Order Selectors are typically very narrow aisle vehicles which can function in aisles of less than six feet. They are really useful pieces of equipment during cycle counting situations as well as during physical inventories. Order selectors are available in lift heights up to 40 feet high, although models which range in the 20 to 30 foot range are a lot more common.
