Types of Boom Lifts or Construction Lifts
A boom lift is a piece of machinery that allows personnel to perform jobs without having to construct a scaffolding. They are utilized to work on elevated structures, to do maintenance work and are common equipment found in factory and warehouse settings too.
Boom lifts could usually provide wheeled and powered bases which could drive itself to the work place and have a platform on them to elevate the personnel. There are many various types of lifts and every one is suitable to various jobs and settings.
Bucket Trucks
Bucket trucks, that are usually called "cherry-pickers", carry a long boom that has a bucket attached at the end. This bucket area is where an employee may stand. Usually, bucket trucks are utilized by utility workers and by landscapers. Landscapers often use these machines to prune trees.
Bucket trucks are equipped with a boom assembly that is mounted on a standard truck, and this means these lifts could travel on roads at regular traffic speeds. This mobility really increases the area they could effectively service. This is especially important for power companies. Like for instance, many of these companies utilize cherry pickers to raise workers up so they could work on and reach transmission lines. The buckets must be regularly inspected and well insulated as they are working near potential shock hazards.
Articulated boom lifts are also called "knuckle lifts", and have a work platform which is mounted on an arm which can bend so as to reach around obstacles. The base of the lift includes a turntable and could turn the lift in a full circle. The base of the lift is mounted on wheels as well for extra mobility.
Articulated boom lifts are utilized for landscaping projects and are useful for maintenance work on already-completed projects which do not need easy access to the area right beneath the jobsite. These lifts can be utilized for exterior electrical work and to repair piping, and areas that are hard to clean. Normally knuckle lifts are driven by the employee in the platform with the extended boom.
