Narrow aisle forklifts
Usually utilized in warehouse applications is the Narrow Aisle Forklift. These forklifts are essential machines within the industry as their extreme maneuverability and small size enable warehouses to use space to maximum storing capacity. They could easily pass aisles as narrow as 1.8 meters wide, while standard lift trucks require at least 3.4 meters of aisle width.
The two types are "narrow aisle forklift" and the "very narrow aisle forklift". The first need 2.4 meters - 3 meters in aisle width, whereas the latter can function in a 1.8 meters wide space.
The narrow aisle forklift design features forks that are positioned at right angles to the body of the truck. The trucks do not have to face the shelves, but instead drive straight down the aisle picking up loads to the side. This particular design feature is the key to their suitability for limited spaces.
To be able to make sure that the forklift is moving in a straight line down the aisle, some very narrow aisle forklifts consist of wire or optical systems. That way, the operator can focus more on the placement and the picking of loads.
The cushion tires which come with these kinds of lifts are made of solid rubber. The hard tires perform well on concrete floors and paved, smooth surfaces. Narrow aisle forklifts have electric motors that is best used within indoor places. Propane-powered models are available also.
