How to Charge a Scissor Lift
There is a great convenience when utilizing a scissor lift, as the convenience of working and the lift basket's safety provides peace of mind while attempting to perform tasks which would have otherwise needed utilizing the rung of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this machinery make it the best alternative for completing tasks from heights.
Nearly all scissor lifts are operated by batteries which are internally mounted in the lift's base. These batteries need to be charged following a long shift or due to sitting after extended periods without use. It is a simple task to charge the batteries. This could be done without any specialized equipment or tools and requires no heavy labor.
So as to prepare the scissor lift for charging, position the machine next to an electrical outlet. Make sure you are doing this in a well-ventilated area. After that, in order to prevent another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the big red button situated in the lift basket, near the charger or the control box. Find the battery charger on the right side of the base of the lift. Often, older models will have the charger mounted on the rear of the lift.
The AC extension cord should next be plugged into the charger. Be certain to charge in a well ventilated place and plug the cord into an electrical outlet. So as to avoid accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is intentionally short. This is because if any excess length were to drop out of the battery charger storage area when in use, extreme danger could potentially take place.
