Seat Belts for Counterbalances
A forklift, also called a counterbalance, carries loads as heavy as 30,000 pounds. Despite being big and sturdy, these industrial machines still bear the possible risk of crash or accident. In order to be safe, be sure to have operators wear the correct seat belt inside the forklift and check that up to standard safety features are also on board. We all know that in the event of an accident, seat belts can save lives.
Three-Point Seat Belt
The types of seat belts which can extend both over the lap and across the upper body are the three-point seat belts. These belts provide an extra safety degree by protecting your body. They are offered in both bucket-seat and bench-seat kinds. The 3-point seat belts are available in either non-retractable or retractable types.
Retractable seat belts are usually used in the majority of modern motor vehicles available. Although non-retractable types increase safety, retractable types provide more comfort. It is truly impossible for a non-retractable seat belt to accidentally extend.
Lap belts
The type of seat belt that only extends over the lower portion of the body is a two-point lap belt. The majority of lap belts are non-retractable and feature a push-button closure system. In order to secure the seat belt, just press on the belt button and then the two sides would separate.
Circuit-closed seat belt
The kind of seat belt that forces a forklift operator to wear a seat belt is a circuit-closed seat belt. These seat belts have a micro-switch attached which sounds an alarm if an operator starts a vehicle and is not secured by a seat belt. The circuit-closed seat belts are made in both non-retractable and retractable lap-band kinds.
