Solid Lift Truck Tire Safety
About 200 deaths each year are caused by accidents which involve lift trucks, or forklifts. Correct inspection and maintenance of lift truck tires can really help to reduce the risk of accidents.

Pre-Work Inspection
The tires on the forklift must be inspected at the beginning of every shift, checked for indications of wear and damage. The air pressure in the tires must be checked to make sure that the pressure is not too low. Having a tire pressure that is low could make the machine prone to tip-overs while lifting loads.

Types of Tires
The selection of tire type should be based on the type of surface on which the lift truck will be utilized. For indoor use, lift trucks with solid rubber tires are best. For surfaces which are smooth, tires tend to be smaller. Bigger pneumatic tires are great for lift trucks for outdoor applications. Pneumatic tires can grip well on surfaces which are rough since they are air-filled and have a rubber tread.

Other Considerations
Based on OSHA guidelines, all lift trucks need some periodic and some continual daily checks that is performed every shift. The tires must be inspected again for any indication of damage, like wear or cuts.

Forklift Safety
If you or your employees would be utilizing forklifts, correct training in forklift safety is essential. Lift truck mishaps could result in serious personal injuries or death and lead to unmanageable financial hardship. Even minor mishaps can cost you and your company money if the lift truck or the goods are damaged during a mishap. Be certain you really know a lot regarding forklift safety problems.
