The lift truck is an important piece of machine in most businesses which operate warehouses, distribution centers, storage handling and industrial plants. This wonder machine, the forklift is made of numerous components, like the important carriage, the power source, the engine and the wheels. Lift trucks normally have various kinds of attachments also. The following are several of the most essential lift truck parts.
Lift Truck Engine - At the back of the machinery, the lift truck has its power source. The various kinds of engine on the lift truck will require varying power sources. Like for example, a forklift with an internal combustion engine could have any of the following as its source of power: gasoline, diesel, LP gas or CNG gas. Electric motor lift trucks receive their power from a battery or fuel cells.
Truck Frame - The frame of the truck is the base of the forklift and the most important of all the forklift components. This forms the machine's core. All other lift truck parts are connected to the base, like for instance the axles, mast, wheels counterweight and overhead guard. Fuel and hydraulic fluid tanks may also be part of the frame assembly.
Counterweight Forklift Components - the counterweight is what allows the machinery to be balanced while carrying heavy cargo. This component is made of heavy cast iron and is connected to the backend of the forklift truck. The counterbalance balances the frame of the truck so as to prevent it from tipping over when a load is being carried or lifted on the front. In an electric forklift, the heavy lead-acid battery provides balance and could function as part of the counterweight.
The Cab Area - this area is where the operator sits and drives the machine. Some forklifts have a cab area that is open to the air and several have closed cabs. There are a lot of components located in the cab for operating the forks. The cab has such essential components like the operator controls, steering wheel, seats, pedals, switches and levers. The dashboard has operator readouts.
