Performance
The performance of the machine is the overall result of how well the equipment functions and works together. The equipment's overall effectiveness is determined by a combination of visibility, lifting speed, user-friendliness and capacity.
The working hydraulics and the engine undergo extreme lifting and this places intense demands on the machinery. The lifting component is just a part of the operating cycle. Prior to the machine being able to load or unload, the demands are placed on effective brakes, tight turning radius with high pulling process and accurate control. All of these functions should be able to operate in an optimum fashion, even after heavy usage.
Engine
Every empty container handler is made with a straight six cylinder turbo charged engine equipped with an intercooler. The engines are adapted to the particular working conditions of empty container handling. These conditions include high torque levels and high power at low engine speeds.
The engines of existing units comply with the stringent legal environmental demands that are presently in the business. The engines provide low noise and vibration levels, low exhaust emission levels, low fuel consumption characterize all engine options.
Transmission
All container handlers have been built with extremely durable hydrodynamic transmission systems. For quick acceleration with a minimum of "clutch-slip" the transmission has integrated gearbox and torque converter. The gear changing is electrically accomplished by solenoid valves. These provide 3 reverse and 3 forward gears that are controlled by means of an easily operated multifunction lever.
Drive Axle
The drive axles are engineered to deal with the tough and extreme working settings in ports and in terminals. All axles have reduction in 2 stages - differential and hub reduction. These features ensure a minimum of strain on the transmission system. Additionally, the drive axles are fitted with a hydraulic braking system.
Service Brake System
Wet Disc Brakes that have oil cooled discs that are alternately fixed to and rotating with the hub equip all empty container handlers. When the brakes are engaged, the discs are pressed together by hydraulic pressure from the brake pedal. This offers efficient braking to the unit. The system is practically maintenance free and can cope with heavy cargo over a long period of time. This system requires no need for brake adjustments and offers no fade.
